Livin' The Dream....About Me, Stacy Luchman
It has always been my dream to occupy my days with meaningful work that makes me happy! "Do what you love and never work a day in your life," is sort of what I'm after. But daycare IS work, no matter how much you love it. Loving work is all I really desire. My name is Stacy Luchman. I am a 31-year-old wife and mom. My husband, and I have a beautiful son, who entered kindergarten in the Fall. While I have stayed home with him in the past, daycare is not my ticket to be at home (although, I still count it as a fringe advantage!). Aside from the summer months and after-school hours, my son will be busy learning at school!
My Experience In Childcare:
This summer I am celebrating my second complete year as a in-home provider!
Aside from babysitting my entire life post-eleven-years-old, I was a nanny for a few families in the Chicago area where I attended college. I nannied for about four years. Daily routines, play time, park time, nap time, play dates and learning through play became a natural exisitence to me. Everyday was new! Kids love routine, but there are always new elements in each day. I've had experience with babies from birth through six-years-old. I owned a copy of "What to Expect When Your Expecting," simply as a reference for my families! I've changed countless diapers, taken kids through teething, potty training and the first days of preschool more often than I even realize. And I rarely had a bad day. Toddlers and preschoolers have a special way of making every bit of stress and harried-ness totally worth it!
I've also had years of experience as a certified National Tutor, Sulivan Education teacher, camp counselor, Sunday school teacher, daycare provider, babysitter, middle school teacher, director of education, and of course as a MOM! :)
My Experience As a Teacher:
After I graduated college I joined the Teach For America corps. A non-profit organization that places top-college graduates in not-so-awesome classrooms. The idea is to find quality, educated people to bring a fresh breath to forgotten classrooms full of tough kids. I taught Science, Social Studies and English as a Second Langauge to under-priviledged middle school students in North Carolina for two years. It was amazing, an experience I was blessed to have! So, I'm good under pressure and I aspire to always do my best and be the best in what I do. Home daycare is no different for me in that regard!
Upon returning to Chicago after my commitment with Teach For America, I partnered with a specialized reading program called Power Reading and taught this course in dozens of schools all over Chicagoland. I loved it! Then I had to re-locate back to my hometown in Wisconsin, where I have been laying the plans to realize my dream....doing something I loved each and every day! So a home daycare that had the quality of a preschool has become my dream. I hope you will join me on my journey! I am absolutely confident in my ability to offer you the highest level of care an in-home daycare can provide!
About Our Home:
We are located on a quiet street in Brookfield in a park-like neighborhood. We are near Brookfield East High School, the Expressway and just two blocks from Lily Pond. Three walk-able blocks away (no busy streets to cross) is a park with playground equipment, a baseball diamond, a sledding hill and plenty of observable nature and critters. We have a large sunroom that we have converted to a sort of classroom full of toys, rotating centers, child-appropriate books, art supplies, imaginative play stations and much more. We have a back yard with play ground equipment, plenty of outdoor toys and bikes, patio space for artistic chalk drawings and space to run, jump and play. Our home has been child-proofed, including child-proof locks on cabinets, installed and working smoke detectors, a carbon monoxide detector, a fire extinguisher and has mandated, visible emergency plans. Safety is a number one priority at Little People Play School! We want you and your child to feel at home upon walking in and just a little sad to leave all the fun at the end of the day!
